Delayed Harvest and Large Stocked Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report- February 6, 2018

Murray's Tan Magic Caddis Pupa, Murray's Olive Magic Caddis Pupa and Murray's Caddis Larva. \
Many of you have inquired about the fishing I discussed several weeks ago in areas of large underwater caddisfly populations. Actually Big Stoney Creek in the two mile stretch along Route 675 upstream from Route 42 has very large numbers of caddis pupa (locally called stick bait by the old timers). The lower section of North Creek also has many caddis larva.
My favorite flies are the Murray's Caddis Larva size 14, Murray's Olive Magic Caddis Pupa size 12 and Murray's Tan Magic Caddis Pupa size 12.
I fish these flies across stream tight to the far banks on streams as large as Big Stoney Creek. I retrieve the flies with a slow twitching action. On streams as small as the lower section of North Creek, I fish my caddis larva upstream dead drift using the Murray's Trout Nymph 9 foot 5X Leader with the built in Scientific Anglers Indicators to help detect the strikes.
