Delayed Harvest & Stocked Trout Streams - January 27, 2022

The snow is still hanging around and melting a little each day which is helping the stream levels stay elevated for a good flow. In these conditions a Sinking Tip III fly line with a Murray's Fluorocarbon Sinking 6ft 2X leader will help in swimming the streamers deeply.  The Shenandoah Silver Ghost, Shenandoah Skunk and the Shenandoah Sunrise Streamer all in size 6 are very productive.  If you don't have a sinking tip fly line then use our Tungsten Bead Marauders in size 10. The Tungsten Bead on these make them fast sinking.

With the temperatures down in the single digits the last few nights, make sure to dress warm, bring your waders, and if needed gloves.  We just received a new shipment of Freestone Half Finger gloves, which keep your hands warm but your fingertips open.

All of the local stocked trout streams are clear and fishable. For the latest stocking schedule see the VA DWR website.
