Mountain Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report - August 13, 2020

The mountain trout streams are low, clear, and the trout are wary.  You will get your best stream temperatures by coming in off the Skyline Drive or the headwaters of the streams.  The stream temperature in the upper sections of the streams has been around 63 degrees.

Spotting trout on their feeding stations and fishing a Mr. Rapidan Ant size 18 to them is still very effective. I usually use slack line casts, often with a Murray's Classic 9ft 7X leader to catch these trout.  Be sure to hide your approach and watch your shadows so that you are not scaring the fish.
