Updated Mountain Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report - January 25, 2020

Update for January 25--The heavy rains have caused these streams to have a lot of extra water.  You will get your best fishing by coming in off the Skyline Drive and going into the top of White Oak or the northern branch of the Rose River.

Original Post January 23--Last week I discussed the Little Black Stoneflies that sometime hatch at this time of the year. When I see them rising, I always fish to them with a Murray's Little Dark Stonefly Dry size 18. However, if I do not see feeding trout but see some stoneflies along the sides of the stream, I fish the dry mentioned with a Zebra Copper John Nymph size 16 on an 18 inch 6X dropper below it. I fish all of the slow water and back eddies with this and catch many trout on the nymph.

The Skyline is currently closed from mile post 5 to 31.5 in the northern section. The central and southern section of the Skyline Drive is currently open.  For the latest update you can call the Park at 540-999-3500, option 1, option 1.
