Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report - April 4, 2019

The water temperature is still pretty cool. The deep pockets below the river-crossing ledges are still giving us some nice bass. However, I've found that using a Scientific Anglers Sink Tip III Line with a 6ft Murray's Sinking Fluorocarbon 2X is helping me catch more bass.

Stream Conditions:  The North Fork of the Shenandoah River is clear and fishable. There is still a full amount of water so wade carefully. The best areas will be upstream of Edinburg  (access spots #18 & #19 on our master map).    The South Fork is clear but is still too high to wade.

Recommended Flies:  Skunk Roadkill Nymph size 6, Olive Strymph size 4, and Heavy Hellgrammite, Black size 4  Fish these slowly and deeply along the stream bottom.
