Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report - Update August 15, 2020

The Murray's Floating Minnow in the tails of the pools are giving me excellent action when I fish them along the shaded banks in water 2 to 4 feet deep over cobblestone bottoms. I wade upstream close to the bank and cast my Floating Minnows ahead of me. Strip them back downstream very slowly.

Other productive flies this week per customers and guides:  Shenandoah Blue Popper size 6, Murray's Crayfish size 6, and Murray's Olive Marauder size 6, Shenk's White Streamer size 6.  Fish all of these on a Bright Butt 9ft 2X Leader.

Stream Conditions:

The North Fork of the Shenandoah River is in beautiful shape.  The recent rains have provided just enough to improve the water levels.

Update August 15: The South Fork of the Shenandoah River is still too high for good fishing and is muddy in some areas from the recent rains.
