Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report - July 2, 2021

Fishing upstream in the tails of the pools at dusk with a Murray's Floating Dace or Chub Minnow #6 is very effective until the pool gets too deep to wade. Then I move over to the shallow side of the river and continue to fish these Floating Minnows upstream. This week the Shenk's White Streamer #6, Shenandoah Blue Popper #6, and Shenandoah Chartreuse Chugger #6 have been working well for our customers and guides.

Checked the river conditions this morning after the rains last night. Both the North Fork and the South Fork of the Shenandoah River are in beautiful shape.  Please keep in mind that there are 3 dams on the North Fork that are not legal or safe to go around so if you plan to float in kayaks plan your trip ahead of time and do some research. For more information on public boat landings, see by book Virginia Blue Ribbon Streams book.
