Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report -July 17, 2018

Frequently I catch my largest bass on Sculpin Streamers along the streambottom in the heaviest riffles by using a SA Sink-tip III line with a Murray's Fluorocarbon 6 ft 2x leader. Try to keep your cast in the 30-40 foot range because it can be very difficult to get adequate depth with real long casts across heavy riffles. The Murray's Sculpin Marauder size 4 and Murray's Heavy Black Madtom/Sculpin size 4 are both producing well. On the North Fork of the Shenandoah River access point #5 (Chapman's Landing) is good, access point #11 (Seakford's Landing) is good as well.
