Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report - June 24, 2021

At dusk every evening I head for the closest pool tail in the area I'm fishing. These one to two feet deep areas are choice feeding stations for most of the large bass in the area. The chub and dace minnows in these shallows are easy prey for hungry bass.  The Murray's Floating Chub and Dace Minnow in size 4 and 6 are very effective in these areas.

If you are out in the daytime, be sure to fish the shady banks with a Shenandoah Blue Popper size 6 or a Shenandoah Chartreuse Chugger size 6.  I am fishing all of these on a Bright Butt 2X or 3X Leader.

Both the North Fork and the South Fork of the Shenandoah River are clear and fishable. If you need help on where to go, stop by the fly shop and we can go over the access places or for the Game Commission access you can see my book Virginia Blue Ribbon Streams.
