Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report - March 13, 2019

We are starting to catch some smallmouth bass in the back eddies that form in the slow currents that are below the riffles. These range from 10 to 50 feet in diameter and from 4 to 6 feet deep. These can be fished by either wading or floating. Right now the Shenandoah River is clear but still has higher water levels than normal so some areas will be tougher to wade than others. The water is still cold so be sure to bring your waders.

Flies to use: Murray's Magnum Darter, Murray's Magnum Hog Sucker and Murray's Gray Ghost all in size 4.

Fishing access point #18 (see our master map in the fly shop) will help you get above some of the higher water levels.
