Jeff Murray Smallmouth Bass Fly Fishing

Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report- May 1, 2018

Murray's Sculpin Marauder, Shenk's White Streamer and Murray's Magnum Hog Sucker Streamer
The bank bays I discussed last week are still providing good action. I find these areas which lie right beside very fast currents in the main part of the river often give me larger bass if I use a Sinking Tip III Fly Line or a Fast Sinking Head Fly Line (200 grain). I fan several casts deep into the bank bays, then use these sinking fly lines with a Murray's Fluorocarbon 6 foot 2X Sinking Line Leader to crawl my streamers along the streambottom. Shenk's White Streamer size 4, Murray's Magnum Hog Sucker Streamer size 4 and Murray's Sculpin Marauder size 4 are all excellent. Access point #18 (Meem's Bottom) on the North Fork of the Shenandoah River is good. The South Fork of the Shenandoah River is too high for good fishing.
