Harry Murray Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing

Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report- May 8, 2018

Murray's Tungsten Cone Head Pearl Marauder, Murray's Magnum Hog Sucker Streamer and Murray's Tungsten Cone Head Olive Marauder
Some very exciting smallmouth bass fishing I get this time of the year comes from those sections of the river where there are small feeder streams entering the main rivers. One feeder on the North Fork of the Shenandoah River close to Edinburg is ten feet wide. One several miles upstream is thirty feet wide. However, they all contribute many minnows to the main rivers. I like to wade or float to within fifty feet of what we call the "mouths" of these feeders. Big bass cruise in and out of these areas so I fish them with big flies such as Murray's Magnum Hog Sucker Streamer size 4, Murray's Tungsten Cone Head Olive Marauder size 4 and Murray's Tungsten Cone Head Pearl Marauder size 4. By fishing this whole area thoroughly with these flies I catch many bass. Access point #18 (Meem's Bottom) on the North Fork of the Shenandoah River is good. Access point #11 (Seakford) on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River is good.
