Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report - October 10, 2019

Recommended Flies: October is known as the month when many anglers catch their largest bass. I like to fish with a Sinking Tip III line using large streamers such as Murray's Tungsten Cone Head Olive Marauder size 4, Shenk's White Streamer size 4, and Murray's Heavy Black Hellgrammite size 4. Frequently the slower and deeper I fish these flies the more bass I catch.

 Stream Conditions:

The North Fork of the Shenandoah River is clear and fishable. Downstream from access #5 on the North Fork has been doing well. Wade slow and carefully so you do not spook the fish.

The South Fork of the Shenandoah River is low, clear and fishable. Downstream from access #12 (Good's Landing) has been productive.  For all public access, check out our marked map in the fly shop.
