The North Fork of the Shenandoah River is in good shape as far as clarity. For those of you that want to wade and fish I would recommend fishing upstream of Edinburg into the Mount Jackson area as you will get better water levels. The Woodstock area will be wade-able by the Columbus Day Holiday if you have the day off. If you want to float I recommend putting in at Chapman's Landing to float down the river to the dam and then paddle back up to take out at the same spot. You can also float the Strasburg area for a straight through float on the North Fork.
Update on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River--The South Fork is clearing nicely and is fishable by floating. You will get better water levels by floating the areas upstream of Luray. This river is still to high to wade. I recommend using a Pearl Marauder size 6 or Shenk's White Streamer size 4 as the water levels continue to drop.
As the level continue to drop a little more then you will find toward the evenings the large bass will move into the tails of these pools to feed on minnows. By using a Murray's Floating Chub and Murray's Floating Dace you can catch many of them.
The South Fork of the Shenandoah River is still to high for fishing. I expect it to be fishable by the early part of next week.
