Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report - Update September 5, 2020

Update September 5.  The North Fork of the Shenandoah River is clear and fishable.  There is plenty of public access to wade the North Fork of the Shenandoah from Mount Jackson to Strasburg.  If you are planning on using a kayak or a canoe keep in mind there are several dams on the North Fork that are not legal or safe to go around.  For floating you can go to Chapman's Landing (#5) float down a mile or so and then paddle back to take out at the same access.   You can also visit the Seven Bends State Park and put in at the Hollingsworth access and take out at the Lupton access.   Be safe and enjoy your Labor Day weekend!

The South Fork of the Shenandoah River is still to high and muddy for fishing.

As the conditions improve and with the cooler nights you will get your best fishing with a Shenandoah Blue Popper size 6, Shenandoah Chartreuse Chugger size 6 and Shenandoah Sunfish Slider size 6.  Fish these along the shady banks with a slow pop-slide-pop action on a 9ft 2X Knotted Tapered Leader.
