Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report- September 5, 2019

Recommended Flies: For the Hexagenia Hatch an effective technique is to fish a Mr. Rapidan Skater size 8 on a 9ft 2X Bright Butt Leader with a Mr. Rapidan Olive Soft Hackle size 8 on a 2X mono dropper below it. Fish this across stream with a slow twitching action.

Again this week, our guides have been doing well with the Murray's Crayfish size 6, Dying Dace size 6, Olive Marauder size 6 or 8 and Black Marauder size 6 or 8.

 Stream Conditions:

The North Fork of the Shenandoah River is clear and fishable. Downstream of Access Spot #5 has been doing well.  Wade carefully so you do not spook the fish.

The South Fork of the Shenandoah River is clear and fishable. The water levels are getting low so wade carefully. Downstream from access #13 (Fosters) has been doing well.  For all public access, check out our marked map in the fly shop.
