Flyfishing Virginia Stocked Trout Stream Shenandoah Valley Spring Creek

Stocked Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report - December 19, 2020

Ed Shenk (pictured above) who designed my favorite Cress Bug was a master of catching trout in all size streams. Many of the large trout streams have great populations of cress bugs and shrimp in and below the springs that flow into them. Here, I often fish across stream with a Cress Bug size 14 and Murray's Shrimp size 14.  I cover all of the water from the springs downstream for the next 40 feet. A very slow fly-crawling action is very productive.

The DWR is stocking many streams throughout the state with rainbows, browns and brook trout so I encourage you to do some research and explore different streams.
