Stocked Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report - January 7, 2021

When fishing streamers for trout at this time of the year, we are often confronted with higher than normal stream levels. This can result from snow or as we just recently saw--heavy rains. My favorite way to master this situation is to use a Scientific Anglers Sink Tip III line with a Murray's Fluorocarbon 6ft 3X sinking leader with a Black Madtom/Sculpin size 8, Spuddler size 8, or a Murray's Heavy Chub Streamers size 8.  I frequently use a Murray's Marauder in a size 10 or 12 for stocked trout.  Previously we only carried the Marauder in size 10 and 12 in black, pearl, and chartreuse. NEW for 2021 we have now added the Marauder size 10 and 12 in the brown and olive color.

All of the local stocked trout streams are clear and at perfect water levels.  If you need help on where to go, stop by or call the fly shop. You can also visit the DWR website for the latest stocking schedule.
