Stocked Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report - November 26, 2019

The elevated streams have flushed the nymphs from the riffles and the trout are feeding heavily on them. Since many different nymphs are found here, a good technique is to fish a 3 nymph tandem rig containing a Murray's Dark Stonefly Nymph size 12, Murray's Olive Caddis Pupa size 12, and a Mr. Rapidan Olive Soft Hackle Nymph size 14. Fish these across stream with a slow line hand twitching action.

All of the local stocked trout streams such as Big Stoney Creek (Edinburg), Passage Creek (Fort Valley), and Mill Creek (Mount Jackson) are clear and fishable.  The delayed harvest area on Passage Creek off of Rt 619 near the fish hatchery is still closed for repairs. Expected to reopen Fall 2020.
