Virginia Fly Fishing Report

Trout Fly Fishing Report- Murray’s Fly Shop- Edinburg, Virginia
Mountain Trout Streams:
The mountain trout streams are too cold for good fishing.

Large Trout Streams and Delayed Harvest Streams:

Some of the best fishing on these streams now is downstream of where the springs enter them. These springs are five to six degrees warmer than the main stream. The rich pH prompts excellent cress bug and shrimp growth. Fishing these areas with Cress Bug size 14, Murray’s Shrimp size 16 and Shenandoah Sowbug size 16 is very effective at this time of year.  Big Stoney West of Edinburg, Back Creek and the Bullpasture all three have many of these springs. These are easy to locate by the rich green weed growth in them and downstream of them.
