Virginia Smallmouth Bass Fly Fishing Report-January 30, 2017

Virginia Fly Fishing Report for Smallmouth Bass

Smallmouth Bass Streams:  I have been encouraging everyone to develop new flies for their fishing in the upcoming season.

Here are some basic tips I teach in my Saturday Basic Fly Tying Workshops in the Fly shop that simplify the fly tying and makes very durable, effective flies.  For example, when tying Deer Hair Bass Bugs, keep the hook shank clear so the hair spins easily. Also use Kevlar Thread and clean out each bunch of deer hair thoroughly with a deer hair comb before tying it in. When tying streamers, keep the materials sparse so they will sink well.
